NEW YORK (Billboard) - Rapper T.I. has set a new record for the biggest leap to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. His new tune, "Whatever You Like," soared 70 places to No. 1 in its third week on the list, thanks to a No. 1 opening on the Hot Digital Songs chart with 205,000 downloads.

The old record for the biggest leap to the top was held by Maroon 5's "Makes Me Wonder," which jumped 63 places in May 2007. "Whatever You Like" marks T.I.'s first No. 1 as a lead artist (he was featured on Justin Timberlake's 2006 chart-topper, "My Love").

Dancehall's favorite singjay is mashing up the place with his steamy single, "Mus Come a Road." The song, which is causing havoc on the dancehall circuit, is produced by Reli of "Raging Bull" fame and penned by Mr. Vegas. "Mus Come a Road" has set the summer on fire. When the pulsating beat drops for "Mus Come a Road," a sense of nostalgia evokes, as the song is built on Barrington Levy's 1982 smash "Prison Oval Rock." Vegas' millennium version of the cult classic thrives with a Barrington Levy sample, which is looped through out the song.

Usain Bolt did some of the latest dance moves while at the Beijing Olympics and to show their appreciation, dancers have created moves to represent the top Jamaican sprinter.

After completing the 100 metre men's finals, Bolt did Ovamar's 'Nuh Linga' and after the 200 metre finals he did Ice's 'Gully Creepa' and Shelly Belly's 'Nineties Rock'.

Upon seeing Bolt's actions, Ice says he was pleased to see the athlete show aspects of the Jamaican culture on the international stage; but more so because Bolt chose to do his dance.

One song that really caught my attention is called The Truth, All the songs on the album are great but personally this song has my full attention and it's number one on my chart.

Radio and people who appreciate good music better start paying this song some attention. Ce'cile, when you read this, You and your label should start pushing this song cause it's a Hit and that's why today it's an official Worldflavas Hot Music Pick. A +

machel.jpg NEW YORK (Billboard) - On a recent subway ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan, soca phenomenon Machel Montano was jolted from the anonymity he enjoys in some areas of New York when a female passenger shouted in a thick Trinidadian accent, "Machel Montano's on this train!," prompting many strap-hangers to hurriedly take out their camera phones.

That Montano, the most in-demand musical export from the oil-rich southern Caribbean republic of Trinidad and Tobago -- where soca originated -- can anonymously ride a train for several stops and then suddenly be swarmed by adoring fans reflects the dichotomy of his musical stature.

diddy.jpgLaw enforcement sources tell TMZ at around 3:00 AM on August 23rd, Puff Daddy, aka Diddy, aka Sean "Puffy" Combs, aka Sean Combs, was being driven by an entourage on the Sunset Strip. One of the cars didn't have proper tags and deputies from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department made the stop. We're told the other three cars in the entourage stopped as well. It's Sheriff Dept. policy to call for backup when other cars linger at a traffic stop.

Backup arrived and the driver of the second car became "extremely uncooperative," to the point he had to be detained. At that point, Diddy and the remaining five or six members of the entourage got out of their cars and began walking toward the detained member of their posse. That's when one deputy drew his weapon, not knowing what the dudes were up to. We're told at the time the weapon was drawn, deputies did not know Diddy was part of the group. Ultimately things became peaceful, the detained guy was let go and everyone lived happily ever after ... for the rest of the night. BTW, the guy who was stopped -- turns out he was in a rental car so he wasn't ticketed.

Dohlance who is the older of the two explains that like RDX, they have put in the ground work and is now ready for the big leagues. "Is a longtime now DNS a do music and we've been throught the struggles we spend nuff days a practice, get whole heap a turn down and invest nuff studio time and is not a luck ting a serious work. cecile-small1.jpgDeejay Ce'cile has found herself comfortably positioned between the pages of Playboy magazine, and she is loving it. "It's just great," she says, giving a coy smile and playfully striking a Playboy kind of pose. The August issue of the German edition of Playboy features a review of Ce'cile's newest album, Bad Gyal, making her among the few dancehall artistes to appear in this publication. She joins the likes of Shaggy and German reggae act sMono and Nikitaman to be featured in the review section "Of course, this feature in Playboy magazine is really a plus. It is very rare for Jamaican dancehall musicians to make this publication and hopefully this means that more of us will make it in the review pages.

Millions of people read this magazine, so immediately there will be a lot of exposure for me and the product," she says. Ce'cile notes that this is a great way of promoting the CD and building on the fan base that already exists in Germany. The artiste who recently returned from an European tour promoting the CD, says the tour went well and they covered a lot of ground in the couple of weeks on the road appearing at the major festivals. She explained that Bad Gyal is strictly for the European market and an intense marketing and promotional campaign is in progress. There are 18 tracks on the CD, including a remix, featuring Shaggy, of the runaway hit single, Waiting.

spragga01.jpg

Seventeen (17) year old Carlton Grant Jr. more popularly known as 'Carlie', son of veteran dancehall artiste Spragga Benz (Carlton Grant Sr.) was killed by the Police in Downtown Kingston this morning.

We understands that he was he was last seen alive riding a bicycle, wearing a mesh marino and shorts heading to a party with a some friends in the downtown area where his mother resides. In the earlier hours of Sunday morning a few persons said they heard several shots being fired intermittently followed by a break then one single shot.

jr.jpg Eyewitness accounts said when the young man was accosted by the Police he placed his hands in the air before being shot the first time. One ardent resident of downtown said after that occurred there was a break while a Police officer stood over him and proceeded to shoot him a second time, clearly with the intent to kill.

The residents said they then threw his body in the back of a police vehicle and drove him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. When asked by the residents, who were adamant that the teen was unharmed. The Police claimed he was killed because he was found with an illegal firearm. However when they asked to see the weapon no evidence was forthcoming. Spragga Benz was reportedly in New York at the time of his son's death but his mother was present at the Hospital. The teen before meeting his demise, had a bright future ahead of him being the recipient of five (5) subject passes in the recent CXC examinations.

It is well known in the industry that Faith has had many issues with drugs, it seems has it has taken a toll on her beautiful voice, just as it did for many others like Whitney for example.

Faith hasn't had a major hit in quite a while, so hopefully with this book coming out, she will step up her game, clean up and go back in the studio. A movie of the life of Biggie has just finished filming in Brooklyn, I'm not sure when it's coming out but I will keep you all posted. In the meantime here are so excerpt from the book.

Shaquille-Rashaun.jpg NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has been ordered to steer clear of an Atlanta-area woman who took out a restraining order Thursday.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Richard Hicks granted Alexis Miller's request Thursday after reviewing her allegations that the basketball player stalked her, threatened her with bodily harm and made harassing phone calls in which he breathed heavily into the phone before hanging up.

Miller, a 23-year-old hip-hop artist known professionally as Maryjane, claimed she ended an intimate relationship with O'Neal last month. She alleged he then threatened to pay performers $50,000 each not to work with her.

"It's been very difficult for her," said L. David Wolfe, Miller's Atlanta-based attorney. "Her fears are not only for herself but also the people around her." He said Miller, who has a young son, is "pretty traumatized."

brat.jpg Don't they know that sending Da Brat to prison is like sending a starving man to an all you can eat buffet. She will do her time with a smile on her face.

Well DaBrat was sentenced to 3 years in prison, 7 years of probation and 200 hours of community service following an altercation in an Atlanta Club last Halloween. Her weapon of choice was a bottle of rum and her victim a waitress in the club. The victim was badly disfigured and required many surgeries.

This is also not Da Brat's first brush with the law. In 2000 she faced charges that she beat a woman with a gun during a dispute over VIP seating in a Buckhead, Georgia, nightclub. The victim in that incident received six stitches for a head wound. That case did not make it to trial, however. Instead, in 2001 the rapper agreed to perform 80 hours of community service, serve a year's probation and pay a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to misdemeanor reckless conduct.

Don't do the crime if you can't take the time, STOP THE VIOLENCE!

JuniorX12.jpg(Kingston, Jamaica)

Undoubtedly a gift soldier in the reggae music camp Richard White better known as Junior X is making it clear he's still in the game despite being off the forefront for a while. Currently working on his upcoming album Sound Track Of Life which is scheduled to be release this September, X is signing high praises about the quality of this album. " The making of this album took a while, I had to take a step back to regrouped and find that deep mediation that has helped me to create a song like Plead My Cause with conscious thoughts and love. This album is for the ghetto people, the people who understand struggle and true hardships".

Commenting on his noted absence from the mainstream X said it was nothing but a break. Kartel & Mavado.jpg(Kingston, Jamaica)

The war is on once again and this time it seems as if dancehall deejay Mavado & Vybz Kartel are going all out on acclaimed producer Scatta Burrell's new juggling riddim. The two who were at odd early last year have kept things rather peaceful up until now and the streets is buzzing with the burning question of what sparked the new feud.

The last time the two clashed it took an intervention by top cop Mark Shields to squash the verbal conflict which almost got physical. Coming out of that historic press conference the two vowed to keep their distance in the interest of the music.

On March 2, 2007 Kartel was quoted by the Jamaica Observer as saying "When a man deh pon di corner dem reason bout tings, dem reason bout woman, dem reason bout artistes. But when dem a reason bout artistes don't let the thing spread overwhelming and serious. don't make it hypnotise you. Like I always say, music is art and art is a reflection of life. If you shoot a man, you going to jail or you going to prison, while Vybz Kartel will be here in my bling-bling, driving my vehicle and Mavado will be standing here also, Don't make Vybz Kartel and Mavado turn oonu into idiot,"

jacksonx.jpgNo, no, not hers litteraly, but Janet, Miss Jackson if you're nasty, or maybe soon Mrs. Jermaine Dupree launched her new line of Lingerie called "Pleasure Principle".

"People have come to me with other ideas, but lingerie is a passion for me, and just like music and acting, I can't do it unless I put 100% into it," Janet stated at her press release. The lingerie will be available this winter in the U.S.A, and soon after the rest of the world!

Named after Jackson's 1987 hit, the collection, all priced under $40, includes a variety of bra styles (demi cups to full coverage), with sizes from 32A to 44G. The first collection features Chantilly lace, satin and feminine details such as bows. Rich color combinations include burgundy and beige, silver and peach, and classic black and white.

"There's something for every woman, and that's very important to us," Jackson says. "I've always hated when lingerie is uncomfortable, so the fit and comfort was key."

usain_185x185_359730a.jpg Usain Bolt seems an unlikely purveyor of dancehall culture abroad. After all, his moves on the track have little to do with those created in the ghetto by men and women whose talents lie, not in speed, but in rhythm and grace.

But Bolt has done for local dances, what artistes such as Elephant Man and Voicemail, despite their immense popularity, have not. He has brought worldwide attention to the locally created moves.

"We had planned for one worldwide release in October," says Cristy Barber, VP Marketing & Promotion/VP Records, "but quickly decided to make the album available digitally with all the requests we've been getting. With reigning world champion Jana Rawlinson absent, Walker was never challenged and she seized on the perfect conditions at the Bird's Nest to stop the clock at 52.64sec.

It was the fourth fastest time in history and bettered Fani Chalkia's record of 52.77sec which she set in Athens four years ago.

Chalkia was also missing last night because she'd been sent home from Beijing by Greek authorities after failing a drugs test.

American Sheena Tosta got the silver medal in 53.70sec while Britain's Tasha Danvers took bronze in a personal best 53.84sec.

As reggae recording artiste Etana continues to roll out her exclusive line of novelty items parents who are still shopping for back to school items would be delighted to know The Strong One Notebooks are now available at Kingston Bookshop Outlets. Etana alongside PCF Company Ltd recently sealed a deal with the retail giants to have her Student 1 Subject Notebooks in all 8 locations which span the Kingston & St. Catherine areas.

Marketing Manager of PCF Company Ltd Kadine Reynolds added that several other retail stores and pharmacies had already been selling the Notebooks since it was launched in April of this year but having Kingston Bookshop on board was a major plus. "Some of the stores and pharmacies include Fontana Pharmacy, Woolworth and Azan's Essential in Old Harbour.

At present the cost of the notebook will understandably vary based on the retailers markup but persons can rest assure the price will not exceed JAM$200. Etana who two week ago celebrated her album release on the ground of Strawberry Hill has been showing her entrepreneurial pros by making her name a commercial brand which is now being crafted on consumer items like T Shirts, Mugs and Plaques. These items thereafter are marketed and sold to loyal fans and well wishers worldwide.

Usain Bolt Wins 200m Olympic Gold Smashing World Record 19.30 Secs

It is indeed a day to remember, Usain Bolt made himself and every Jamaican proud by becoming the first man to win gold while setting new world records in both 100 and 200 meters at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Bolt in his own way seemed at ease throughout all his races leading up to this historic one. Always engaging the audience, doing the latest dance moves from Jamaica " Nuh Linga", "Gully Creepa" and "Sweep", many foreign commentators have depicted Usain Bolt as a show off, but we see this great sportsman as as Star and a Showman, loving is sport and pursuing his dream. Usain Bolt broke his own world record of 7.72 secs by running 9.69 secs and Today broke the record set by Michael Johnsone in the 200 meters of 19.32 secs by clocking 19.30 secs. He became the first man since since 1984 to win both 100m and 200m since Carl Lewis did it back then. Only 21, well officially 22 years old as I'm writing this article, Usain Bolt has a lot to look forward to in his career. When he returns to Jamaica, he will be welcomed in a fashion fit for king and queens and can look forward to some very lucrative endorsement offers.

As the green-and-black vest of Usain Bolt flashed across the line in a world record 9.69 seconds, it will have triggered wild parties in Kingston and all across Jamaica. Premier League football and NBA basketball may be the sports that the locals watch most on television, but they know that when it comes to making their own mark on international sport it is sprinting that is number one. Jamaica's tradition of world-class sprinting began in 1948, the last occasion London staged the Olympics, when Arthur Wint won the country's first Olympic gold medal, in the 400metres, and that evening the Duke of Edinburgh visited him in his dormitory and invited him to join him in a tumbler of whisky, by way of celebration.

Because of the time difference in China and poor media coverage on certain events, I missed the running of this race live, as did a lot of people. Being Jamaican myself, I am bursting with pride as once again our country has been made proud by our athletes in Beijing. The men's 100 meters finals saw three Jamaican's going for gold. Michael Frater, Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell. In the end, Usain Bolt gloriously won, easily setting a new World Record of 9.69 seconds leaving us all to wonder how much quicker he could have ran that race if he was more challenged.

The Strong One, is in stores, but what they may not have been privy to is that everyone can now have their own 'piece of the artiste'. On Sunday night, when the singer asked fans and guests to join her at Strawberry Hill for the official launch of The Strong One, there was more than just music in store.

Bolstered by the idyllic surroundings and a warm reception, Etana, along with members of her management team, unveiled a line of novelty items, each emblazoned with her likeness. In the offing are coffee mugs, 'doggie' tags, T-shirts and student notebooks

SeanPaul_alone.jpgAccording to MediaTakeOut, Sean Paul was arrested in Sweden during a Drug Sting.

This is what they report: According to one of our sources, the reggae superstar was caught and charged with possession of an unknown quantity of marijuana.

And it gets worse. According to MediaTakeOut's snitch the whole thing went down at the Uppsala Reggae Festival - a well known event. Word is that undercover officers called for a raid when they spotted Sean Paul and a group of other artists smoking marijuana - which is illegal in Sweden.

No word on what Sean Paul was charged with or how much jail time he faces.

isaac_hayes1.jpg (CNN) -- Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday. Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said. No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement. Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.

Sean.jpg I am King!
No, no, it's not a new statement from Diddy, it is his second venture in the land of fragrances. It is reported that "I am King" could make over $100 million the first year of it's release.

So my first thought when I heard the name "I am King", is here we go again with the ego trip, but according to Diddy
"I Am King is a statement about all men. We are all descendents of royalty -- and if we carry ourselves and respect ourselves in that manner and believe in ourselves, then we are all kings...It has nothing to do with being arrogant. I Am King is not a statement about myself -- I Am King is about every man who is going to go and buy the fragrance."

I Am King will be released exclusively at Macy's department stores in December and then globally in February.

Bangladesh.jpg(U.S)

Ever wonder who produced Lil Wayne's super lyrical track "A Milli", well in this weeks In Studios With WorldFlavas turns the spotlight on the super beat smith Shondrae "Bangladesh" Crawford.
Born in Atlanta, Bangladesh is fast becoming rap music's next big thing. His unique drumlines and gritty synths have been raising some eye brows ever since he produced the Ludacris debut single "Whats Your Fantasy". Though his name and signature "Bangladesh" sound bite may be new to some, Shondrae has been crafting platinum hits for years.

While working as a barber, Mr. Bang used his spare time to sharpen his production skills and got his hard work finally paid off when an old classmate of his, Lil' Fate of Disturbing the Peace fame, introduced Shondrae to the then unsigned Ludacris and the rest as they say is history. Over the next few years he went on to produce for people like Ciara on her Goodies LP, Nivea, 112, Lloyd, Pete Pablo and even Keri Hilson

freeman.morgan.jpgAccording to MediaTakeOut, actor Morgan Freeman was injured in a car accident.

They have received a report from a reader that states those facts:

just got news from a very reliable source telling me that Morgan Freeman was just in a pretty bad car accident around 1:45AM in the town that he lives in which is Charleston, MS.

I was told that he and [a female friend] had been out hitting up bars and they had been doing a lot of drinking but no one knows where they were headed to around the time of the wreck. The town that he lives in is a very small town so they had to air lift Morgan Freeman to the Med in Memphis, TN.

I was told that his wife was out of state on business but was contacted and was told about the wreck but I wonder if they told her that he was with [a female friend]. Not only that, [the female friend] even wanted to be air lifted with him to the Med, now how trifling is that.

Dohlance & Saylah - Artist On The Brink

It may sound like a new artist cliche but believe it or not many successful artists today have practiced and some perfected their musical talents while in the church and like those that came before up and coming Dancehall Duo Dohlance & Saylah is making the most of their past Sunday performances.

Born Norwayne Hills, Dohlance and his lyrical partner David Reynolds better known as Saylah has been campaigning the road many new artists have had to travel and despite the numerous obstacles have continued to forge ahead. The Duo which officially started to work together in 2002 after a chance meeting pay homage to different communities as Dohlance hails from Trelawny and Saylah from Mavis Bank, St. Andrew but once united make no mistake they both represent the energy in present day Dancehall.

At 24 Dohlance is the older of the duo and has always aspired to be in the music industry. A passionate lover of the sounds Dohlance began studying via the drums and keyboard the melody and rhymes of music, this later developed his ability as a songwriter. Back then his shyness would often cloud his ambitions but this was short lived as the support from family and friends gave his confidence the boost it needed to persist, and that he did carving his own path until Saylah came along. At 21 Saylah was influenced in his early years by the super prolific Sizzla Kalonji and the Dancehall governor & general Bounty Killer.
