KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) - Jamaican sprint ace Asafa Powell believes Jamaica's sprinting dominance on the track at the Beijing Olympics last month has triggered envious remarks.
Powell said there was some negative talk about Jamaica's performance at the recent Beijing Olympics, but according to the former 100-metre world record holder, that happened because "those from other countries that used to do well in the sport are not doing well again".
"They are questioning a lot of things," said Powell.
The reigning Commonwealth Games champion anchored Jamaica's men's sprint relay team to a gold medal and world-record (37.10) run in Beijing, appeared to be responding to recent remarks by American Carl Lewis about Usain Bolt, who broke two individual world records in Beijing.

In Senegal, Hip-Hop Artists Have Gained Exceptional Political Influence.
In a country where journalists are banned from saying or writing what they want, hip-hop artists have stepped up to speak for those who can't.
Moussa Lo, a.k.a. Waterflow, is one of Senegal's most famous hip-hop artists.
He said he became a hip-hop singer not for success or his own glory, but to be "the voice of the voiceless."
"Hip-hop in Africa needs to grow," Waterflow told ABC News, "because we are the journalists for the people."
While Senegal's daily papers praise the government's action - new roads being built for a recent summit, urban renovations -- Waterflow denounces the corruption and the poverty that plague his country.
"Most people," he said, "the masses, don't have everything they [need] to live a normal life. They don't have running water, often they don't have electricity."
With more than 2,500 groups that enjoy increasing popularity, the hip-hop scene has gained exceptional political influence.
This still pains my heart and I knew that more would come from it. According to the news from Jamaica, Spragga Benz in now requesting an independant inquest in the death of his son.
"I want to bring in three or four independent coroners to oversee the post mortem. We need to recreate what happened through eyewitness reports and whatever clues may be out there, but I have not hired a private investigator" he told X News from Jamaica.
Seems as the community and Spragga will not let this killing be unresolved like so many others. The mother of Carlton Jr says "My son is not a bad man, evreybody around here know him. The police just saw a yute on a bicycle, and dem kill him and when dem find out who he is, dem ah try cover dem tracks,mi nah done wd dem".
All in all, a son was lost, he had a promising future ahead of him, he will be missed by all. Spragga says that his son was about to have a part in a movie directed by Cess Silvera (director of Shottas) with Queen Latifah, and that when Cess called him to offer his condolences he cried so much that Spragga had to comfot him.

Bobby Brown is planning to wed again after confirming he and manager/girlfriend Alicia Etheredge are an item.
Brown was with Etheredge when he reportedly suffered a minor heart attack last year in October, but it has taken him almost a year to confirm the romance.
Now he tells Sister 2 Sister Magazine he's mad about Etheredge. He says, "That one; the relationship is gonna work 'cause I'm gonna make it work."
Etheredge has always maintained she and Brown are longtime friends and business partners, but she hopes to be the one when Brown chooses to settle down again. In an interview last year, she said, "I think that Bobby is a big romantic and really does believe in love. His parents are still married after all these years and I think that he will find that again."
Bobby's 14-year marriage to Whitney Houston.
became final on April 24.
An Orange County judge granted Houston a divorce and sole custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
Usher loves the Ladies and that is why he is planning a 15 date tour only for the ladies entitled "The One Night Stand Tour".
He says, "There's only a few artists that can pull that off. I feel like I've had such a connection with my audience. "This album, I felt like, was definitely the type of one that was more intimate.
So what better way to get up close and personal than to make it all women? The ladies like to see that masculine build. They question if I still got it."
A Los Angeles judge ordered R.Kelly's promoters to pay $700,320 for pure jealousy as far as i am concern, actually Ne-Yo, J.Holiday and Keyshia Coles were all part of a 25 cities tour "Double Up Tour" headed by R.Kelly. Well right after the 2nd show Ne-Yo was booted off after having received a small portion.
He was told that his handlers had not filled out the proper paper work (whatever). Actually according to everyone involved, R.Kelly's big ego got in the way. Seems like Ne-Yo set was so on point that he got bigger applaused and reaction than R.Kelly, and soon after was given the pink slip. Tsk Tsk Tsk...
