Dear Malaika

After my last relationship ended I decided to remain man free, I started dating, going to movies, dinner, or hanging out with different men. Yes at times I did have protected sex but I decided not to have anyone serious in my life. My last man really hurt me and I do not trust men.

I recently met this guy and we hit it off instantly, I told him I don't want a man, he told me he doesn't want a woman so everything was good. We started hanging out a lot and even had sex, the sex was ok and I know it can get better but my issue is this. I was asked out by another man and when before i would say yes right away, this time I hesitated and told him I will let him know later. I don't know how or where this came about. I am not in a relationship with this guy, it's opposite, I am clear that he doesn't want a woman, but

I am not so sure anymore that I want to see other men except for him. All my friends say i am setting myself up to be hurt, what do you think?

A.

Dear A,

Your friends are right, you are not only setting yourself up for a big disappointment, but to get hurt also. You see you did the right thing by dating after your last breakup, to often people jump into another relationship and tend to carry unresolved feelings. What happened now is that you are finished mourning your ex and are finally ready to move on, you probably didn't realize because you hadn't met a potential worthy candidate. So now you have, and by saying the same line you locked yourself in that category of no girlfriend with him.

So you have 3 choices, be real, tell him that even though you are not trying to rush anything, you feel different and you don't want to date anyone else, see what he says.
Or, keep it the way it is, no strings attached, or finally end it before you hurt.
