The Domain Yourradio105.com has not been hacked as claimed by Dave Lindsay also known as Kaliweed. Upon being infomed that Mr Lindsay in his broadcast on Saturday  January 31, 2009 on ustream.tv, I entered the Jamaicalive channel to inform Mr Lindsay that he should stop spreading lies in an effort to defame my character.

The Domain registrar's legal department has determined the true ownership of the domain name and that is why Mr Lindsay do not have control of it currently as he is not the legal owner.

I've receive numerous calls from third parties about our business disagreement and Mr Lindsay has chosen to misinform his viewers with false claims that his website was hacked by me. I'd like to inform Mr Lindsay and his employees to refrain from mentioning my name and worldflavas.com along with any form of hacking activities or I will be forced to take legal action for defamation of character. The files and content that were previously viewable on yourradio105.com are not in our possesion and we do not and never had any acces to them, nor would we like to. Our ownership is simply of the domain name.

UStream.tv/Channel/WorldFlavas crew threatened

peace.jpgIt is so unfortunate this day in age that some people feel that they have to resort to viloence and threats.

This editorial comes from Malaika of WorldFLavas.com and UStream.tv/Channel/WorldFLavas

Many times people ask the question, how can we as a people elevated ourselves and stop the violence, well it starts by people taking responsibility for their own words and actions.

The same people that a week ago were offended and outraged by being threatened have turned around and sent threat of their own.

There is a long history between 365WebRadio.com/WorldFlavas.com members and the operators of JamaicaLive, but not once did 365WebRadio.com/WorldFLavas.com members ever threatened in any capacities the operators of JamaicaLive. We have always supported them, and wished them well. To even break down as to the problem is not the issue, the issue is that the operators members are now threatening the lives of WorldFLavas members and it will be taken seriously.

These threats are being made public so that they are officially documented. Even after this, we wish them well and hope that they can elevate themselves and take other measures for their grievances.

kimora_lee_simmons300.jpgIt's just not a little Baby Phat, it's a real baby for Kimora Lee Simmons and actor Djimon Hounsou!

The rumors had been circulating for some time, but until she showed up in New Mexico for the new launch of her Baby Phat clothing line at the Liverpool department store, I didn't believe it.

I was wondering why all of a sudden after being separated from Russell Simmons was she not divorcing him, I thought maybe they'd reconcile.

ET has confirmed that hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and Baby Phat designer Kimora Lee have finalized their divorce -- ETonline has the official papers.

This will be the third child for Kimora and the first for her boyfriend, actor Djimon Hounsou. Kimora, 33, is mom to daughters Ming Lee, 9, and Aoki Lee, 6 ½, with ex-husband Russell Simmons.

Rampin shop ordered destroyed

I knew this would eventually happen, but I just assumed that a law suit would be filled and somehow everything would have been worked out.

"Rampin Shop" has been ordered off the shelves, television, radio and internet immediately, so is the demand of Ne-Yo's publishing company. "Rampin Shop" was released and became an instant hit, the song featuring Deejay Vybz Kartel and Spice is on the 'Miss Independent" riddim made famous by Ne-Yo.

EMI Music Publishing stating that "Rampin Shop" infringes on the copyright license of Miss Independent, the copyright license for the composition of the Ne-Yo song is licensed by EMI Music Publishing for composers Shaffer Smith, Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen.

To solve the problem, Kartel says that the song is already being remixed and will be re-released on a dancehall riddim.

Kartel.jpgFree to go and admonished of all charges, that is what the judge said to Kartel on charges of using indecent language on the night of Sting 2008.

Just the week prior, entertainer Mavado was fined J$3,000. and guilty of breaching the town's decency laws. Yesterday, Adidjah Palmer a.k.a Vybz Karel showed up to court with his lawyer, who addressed the court with these words "Your Honour, I know the name Vybz Kartel might send off a negative vibes. However, I am representing Adidjah Palmer who is a totally different person from the entertainer persona. And it is in this light that we want to say we are sorry to the music fraternity and Jamaica at large for what happened at Sting."

After hearing the different arguments and submissions from the lawyer the judge rendered her decision and announced "Your lawyer said that Mr Palmer is different from Vybz Kartel but you need not be different, I cannot see how people use indecent language. It is negative and you being a responsible person must do things that reflect you as a totally responsible individual."

And then was free to go and dismissed of all charges!

Janet Jackson had to cancel her "RockWithU" tour in Japan due to economics hardship. That's another way of saying that the tour did not sell enough tickets.

The shows were scheduled between Feb. 14 and Feb. 22 in Japan. The events are part of the world tour that started in 2008 - her first in nearly seven years.

Jackson, 42, cancelled seven performances in the U.S. last fall because she was "suffering for migraines"

Some of the rumors circulating was that after a domestic dispute that left another man injured, "Moses" committed suicide. His body was found at the bottom of a ravine.

The police is speculating on whether he was pushed or jumped to his death following the previous night's altercation.

Kasim "Moses" Grant is a self processed former "gunman", he said that he turned his life over after a brush with death in 1997.

"So Special" not special enough for BET

Just like so many Reggae/Dancehall lovers I was waiting in anticipation for the debut of Mavado's "So Special" video to debut on BET's "106 & Park". After all it's not often that they have Reggae/Dancehall video's. To my recollection I have only seen Sean Paul and  TOK.
When the show ended without the video showing nor an explanation, I made my way to the internet and just like me, people were dissapointed and baffled as to why it didn't air.

This morning Mavado's management team released a press statement:
"We were as surprised as everyone at BET's decision not to follow through on their promise to premier the "So Special" video on yesterday's 106 & Park. Despite 106 & Park's presenters hyping the premier for several days, including showing clips from the video, a last minute intervention by someone in the legal department prevented the video from airing. The anticipation was very high for the BET premier, and we weren't notified until late in the day that there was a last minute objection by one of the legals over there, who had a censorship issue. He objected to "excessive display of alcohol" and "careless use of women as writhing set dressings!" The video is now available to watch online so people can make up their own minds about that."

Malaika's comment and opinion:
After watching the video I am completely lost as to why BET's legal dept objected to the video, it is no different than the "Hip Hop" and "Rap" video that I see everyday. I for one, will e-mail BET and express my anger and let them know that they have lost my viewership, I encourage anyone who feels the same to write to contactus@bet.com or write your complain to BET Networks

Portmore Empire Crew Allegedly Threatens TV Crew

The hostess known as "Summer" from JamaicaLive internet TV and her crew were allegedly threatened by members of the "Portmore Empire" last Saturday night when they went to interview DJ Vybz Kartel and his crew. The incident stems from "Summer" commenting to her viewers and on Live internet TV that she was a fan of Kartel's lyrical foe 'Mavado".

As most "clash" officianado know, Kartel and Mavado had a controversial lyrical clash at Sting 2008 and since then incidents have been reported throughout Jamaica from diehard fans and alledge members. Here is a clip of "Summer" describing the event.

Malaika's note and comment:
As a member of the media "Summer" should have known and compare the incident to her walking on the"crips gang" territory and shouting out that she loves the "bloods". Violence though is not the answer and not endorsed by me at all, but when you deal with a certain mentality, as a professional you have to remain unbias until you are on your own turf. I can only assume that after hearing her comments of being a fan of the opposite, it would make it difficult for the artists to sit by and conduct an interview knowing that the reporter is bias.

Kanye West for Louis Vuitton Sneaker

kanye-west-louis-vuitton-sneakers.jpgA few weeks ago I showed you the new sneaker that Kanye West did for LV, it was a white sneaker, well some new colors were added and I must admit that I am feeling those shoes, I am not sure of the price tag(approx $600) on it, and in this recession I guess I'll just have to admire it from afar. Here is the official press release. (they are available in 4 colors, white, red, gray and tan)

PARIS -- Marc Jacobs and the Louis Vuitton men's studio director Paul Helbers have some design competition this season. Kanye West, who was sitting front row at the Vuitton show, has designed a line of five LV sneakers. Only one design, above, was featured in the show -- a monochromatic midtop with no frills, save for a quilted flap in the back, all the easier to tuck pants into. "The inspiration came from a jacket with a huge collar in the movie 'Dune,' " West says. "Most sneakers focus on the tongue, so I wanted to do something different." West knows whereof he speaks: he says he has no idea how many shoes he owns, but he does know that he routinely needs to send shipments off to storage. The LV-meets-Kanye kicks will be available at Louis Vuitton stores in June.

Everyone is feeling the love.  For the last couple of days Washington DC has been like the "new Hollywood", and  it will definitely continue later today when president-elect Barack Obama will be sworn in. There is more Barack Obama merchandise on the streets than items at a Disney Concert! :-) The vibe is extremely positive and everyone is moving with a spirit of oneness.  I wish I could bottle the positive energy and vibe so everyone could touch it.

Dubbed "Sean Paul & Friends LIVE," the event was part of New York City's trendsetting promotion team - Upscale Crowd Entertainment and Caribbean Fuse's celebration of the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, on Sunday, January 18, 2009.
Fans who braved the snowy New York temps to pack Element were in for a treat when SP, as he's commonly called, took the stage, welcoming everyone in the club. "Happy New Year to all my people them," he said, greeting the crowd with a smile. "You see all my people them who love reggae and dancehall music - Caribbean people, Jamaican people, Trinidadian people, Guyanese people." The audience went wild as he called out their homelands, then performed many of his hits, including, "Give It Up To Me," "We Be Burning," "Gimme The Light," "Get Busy," "Watch Dem Roll," and "Temperature."

According to his bio:
Ras Emmanuel was born in Kingston, Jamaica, Ras Emmanuel grew up with music in his soul, performing and making radio dubs for local DJ's and local radio stations. As a young teen, Ras Emmanuel was selected to appear at The Red Label Wine contest to represent the parish of St. Catherine during time he was discovered by legendary DJ extraordinaire, I Roy. Ras Emmanuel earned money by working as a construction worker and fisherman. He also earned money by digging sand and pushing through garbage dumps to find salvaged metal and plastics. He made enough money to travel to the United States for the purpose of pursuing a career in music as a writer, performer and entertainer.

I had the chance to interview Ras Emmanuel at The New jersey Reggae fest a couple of years ago and since then, our path have crossed many times. Always charming Ras Emmanuel's career keeps soaring, and as a result of his dedication he is now nominated.

As soon as she walked through the door her presence filled the room. She looked and had the swagger of a star. I knew right away that I would like her as she was real down to earth and in her own words "keeps it real".

Stoo$h might be new to the scene but has been singing for many years.

Event though WorldFlavas.com was not at their regular studio, and we had issues with lighting, Stoo$h was not a diva at all as her name might inspire. Kartel/Mavado versus Portmore Police

| Permalink | Comments (0)
Someone will really have to sit me down and explain to me why the police served summons to Mavado and Kartel for breaching the town community act on the night of Sting 2008.

The police states that "they were uttering expletives and using threatening words to describe each other". Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't that what part of clashing and Sting is about? The clash, the interviews were promoted for months in advance, the police is well aware of the rivalry between the 2 artists.

Deputy Superintendent of police Clive Blair stated that "We are going to do our jobs to the book and it doesn't matter whom the person is. If they go against the law, then they will have to answer in court. And this is what happened in Mr Palmer and Mr Brooks' case."

Mavado is scheduled to appear in court on January 20 and Kartel on January 27.

This year, more than any other year Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's dream holds more truth than at any other time in history. I got chills as I listened once again to his famous speech. Please, if you have never heard it, take a few minutes and listen.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

But 144 years later, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr speech will come to pass, in his words "A negro" will be sworn in as president of the United States of America.

Blossom Garden Orphanage Montego Bay Jamaica

Anyone that knows me, know that I have an extremely soft spot for children. I wish I could do like Anjelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and adopt children from around the world. Surfing through youtube this morning, I ran across this video of a family that visited the Blossom Garden Orphanage in Montego Bay Jamaica and right away I "googled" it to learn more.

I know that money is tight for everyone, but if you can donate directly to them a few penny I am sure that it will make a huge difference. Can you look into those eyes and turn away?

Blossom Garden's Child Care Centre is located on a hill above Montego Bay and houses 50-60 children from birth through ten years of age. This is a place where one can stay by prior arrangement for several hours or all day holding and feeding babies, playing with the children, and just helping out with whatever is needed. The administrator for this orphanage is Mrs. Brown, and she can be contacted at (876) 952-6068 Monday through Friday or by e-mail at blossomgch@yahoo.com.

On February 9th 2009 BET honors will be on television. Over the weekend, celebrities like Queen Latifah, Ne-Yo, Mary J Blige, Samuel Jackson, Diddy and many more were in attendance.

The one and Only Whitney Houston performed on stage and was amazing. She looked spectacular and may I say drug free? Her album is stated to come out this year and I believe that Whitney Houston will be the comeback story of 2009.

Soulja Boy the Grammy nominated young man who brought us "Crank That" (Superman that Hoe) has been allegedly outed by this other young man who claims to be his lover. Now me personally I do not care what people do in their bedroom, gay, straight, it's none of my business, but I do have an advice for those living in the closet, "Be Yourself" you will be much happier, that being said, I don't know if this young man is for real, but he claims he will go to the news channel CNN. What do you all think?

Picture "The French Prince Of Bel Air" Jamaican style, well that's what you will get on February 3rd on CVM TV if you are lucky enough to be in Jamaica. Unfortunately "Clumsy Daps" (killed not log ago) character will be played by actor Everaldo Cleary.

The show according to Benzly Hype :"It's basically about our journey through the music industry. Most of the stuff that happens is what took place in our career, except that we invented me winning the lottery as a way for us to move to the uptown. So I win the lottery and move uptown with my mother, played by Audrey Reid. It's like a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air meets Beverly Hillbillies,"

machel2.jpgMagistrate Cheron Raphel fined popular entertainer Machel Montano for illegally driving on a priority bus route without prior approval, and without a driver's license.

An offense that could have carried up to 6 months in jail unless he paid fines within 24 hours of the judgment.

Machel defense as he explained to the court was that he was in the midst of doing an Internet recording with a United States-based singer and was taking a chance in using the route.

Even entertainers must obey the law as driving illegally can cause accidents, Machel is well aware as a sound tech for his band was killed in a taxi accident over the past weekend. The car hit a pillar as the driver was trying to avoid a passing car.

France said to be biggest reggae country outside of Jamaica

France_flag.jpgOver the weekend I was reading an article (click to read article) written By Basil Walters Sunday Observer staff reporter that claimed that France is said to be the biggest reggae country outside of Jamaica.

I was a little surprised as I always assumed that Japan was number 2 after Jamaica, after all many Jamaican artists released their albums in Japan.

Artists like Serani, Voicemail, Delly Ranxx, Sadiki and more all have opted to release their albums in Japan. One of the common reason Serani states"Japan is one of the few places people still actually buy CDs and is a major market for dancehall."

Even sound systems such as Mighty Crown fill up a stadium size venue for some of their performances, and a few years ago a Japanese dancer "Junko" won the coveted title of "Dancehall Queen" in Jamaica. Take Akihiko Narisawa who runs the Jamaican branch of Tokyo-based Oasis Music and sends thousands of records to Japan each month. Mr Narisawa is one of hundreds of Japanese who have come to the land of reggae to bury themselves in reggae music culture.

The couple have 3 children together, and back in 2005, Andrea filled a protection order against R.Kelly accusing him of physically abuse and  harassment. They will have joint custody of the children.

Even though the settlement was not made public, insiders say that she will get over $50 million dollars.

Mrs. Andrea Kelly's lawyer put out an official statement: A Judgment for Dissolution of Marriage was entered today dissolving the marriage between singer, R. Kelly and his wife of 11 years, Andrea Kelly.

The parties have reached an amicable resolution concerning all issues related to their marriage and will share joint custody of their three children.

I hope that Andrea writes a tell all book on her life with R.Kelly, I would so buy it.

It ain't over....In the spirit of good competition and promoting lyrical war a New York based dance crew created a dance on the rapidly famous "Last Man Standing" song. Spikes made up the dance and it caught up already with all the dancers from the dancehall fraternity. Big up to Spikes and thanks to FamousPeopleTV for the clip. I reached out to Famous People TV and I want to share with you all an important fact.
"Don't forget to mention in your report that a young Female Director PG (Petergay Donaldson)out of the Bronx, shot the video and edited it herself . She's currently working on a documentary "This is Reggae Dancehall", she's about to take this culture to a whole new level . All di content, she shoot it and edit it , and we put it pon we page . Her company " A Rated PG Production ".

This is an artist out of the Bronx, I had the pleasure of interviewing him a few times at several state shows in New York and New Jersey. He is  a poet and story teller with his words. He hopefully will come to WorldFLavas Radio and Ustream.tv/channel/worldflavas for a live interview very soon. In the meantime enjoy his latest single 'Stop To Pray".

Antigua.jpgSting keeps going and going...

Supreme Promotions took Sting on the road sort of speak, Millers By The Sea in Antigua was the stage for Sting Antigua on January the 3rd of 2009.

Performers like Shane-O, Flippa Mafia, Duane Stephenson, Egg Nog,  Lisa Hype, Spice and Vybz Kartel gave the Antiguan audience a night to remember.

Everyone received an amazing ovation, but when Kartel touched the stage and performed "Last Man Standing" the crowd went in a frenzy. I wonder why Mavado wasn't there?

Rihanna has to cover up from neck to knee

rimalay.jpgPop Princess Rihanna is scheduled to make a stop in Malaysia on Feb 13th 2009 for her 'Good Girl Gone Bad" tour.

There is just one little problem, Rihanna who is well known for her sexy and skimpy outfits, will have to cover up from neck (including shoulders) to knees under government guidelines.

Rihanna is not the first performer affected by this rule, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne and The PussyCat Dolls have also been subjected to it.

Malaysia is a Muslim majority country and the dress code for women is very strict, but that's not the only thing that she needs to worry about.

When Avril Lavigne performed, a district branch of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said that her moves were too sexy.

I came across this video clip this morning of Shabba Ranks in South Africa. I can't even imagine the honor of meeting such an historical figure. Shabba Ranks was in South Africa for an election rally when Mandela was running for president after having been incarcerated for 27 years.

Unfortunately I was not in Jamaica to enjoy and take part of Shaggy and Friends benefit concert for the Bustamante Children Hospital, but by all accounts it was more than a success. Concert goers from all parts of Jamaica were in attendance, and many were brought to tears by some of the realities of the children needs. Here are some clips, and remember it is not too late to help, just click here and donate, every penny makes a difference.

Julian Jones-Griffith says he is planning to sue Beenie

bmavdo.jpgbmav.jpgNo one but the culprits know what really happened at Campfire as both sides of Beenie Man and Mavado's management deny any altercations.

All we know for a fact is that after a disagreement backstage Beenie Man left without performing and bottles were thrown on stage by patrons.

Beenie Man manager Rohan "Blue" Smith said that around 4am Beenie Man wanted to perform as his band "Ruff Kutt" was already onstage. He had not signed a contract stating that he would close the show, but it made sense for him to go on instead of waiting on the alliance members and band to perform, clear the stage and for 'Ruff Kutt" to go back and set up again.

After that all hell broke lose, Rohan "Blue" Smith says that even "Kitty Paw" got roughed up (for those of you not familiar with this beautiful lady, catch her interview at ustream.tv/channel/jamaicalive).

However, Mavado's manager Julian Jones Griffith says that Beenie and his team are not telling the truth about the incident and that he is planning to sue Beenie Man for accusing members of Mavado's entourage of physically abusing members of his entourage during a radio interview.

Julian Jones griffith told the Jamaican newspaper The Star "Nothing more than him do f----- and lef the show and his fans bottled the stage. Now, he wants to make Mavado and Bounty Killer look bad."

Shaggy choses not to attent the Grammys

shag.jpgShaggy says that after receiving the news that his latest album "Intoxication" was nominated for a Grammy Award, he decided that he was not going to attend the event. The already Grammy winner says that he is grateful, but that he hopes someone else takes it home for Jamaica.

He says "I'm hoping Elephant Man wins. He's very excited about the nomination, and a win will mean more to him than to me," says Shaggy, who doesn't plan to attend the lavish ceremony in Los Angeles. "[The Grammy affair] doesn't hold that much significance to me anymore because I have seen it not being given to the right people at the right moment. It has lost its meaning for me, but it is still music's highest honor and you have to respect that."

Let me first say that I like Shaggy a lot, especially all the work that he is doing for the children and his other many charities. That being said in my eyes Shaggy knows that his latest album will not win, not because it's not good enough, but because Elephant Man's album was just better. I believe that since he already won, he'd rather not lose in person. For Shaggy to say that the Grammy doesn't hold much significance to him anymore are bold and powerful statement. I think that Shaggy should chose his words carefully, after all the Grammy that he received opened doors that allow him to live his lifestyle and give back to his country.

be careful what you say and what you wish for Shaggy!

I don't know that this clash feud between Mavado and Kartel will go away any time soon, between fans arguing, reports of a man getting stabbed at a dance because he was pro one or the other, photoshops pics all over the net, one thing is for sure, until another clash takes place, the debate on who was the victor will continue.

johntra.jpgJett Travolta, John Travolta's 16 years old son died in the Bahamas.

Jett Travolta was on vacation with his family at the Bahamas Bay Hotel in the Grand Bahamas when he suffered a seizure and hit his head in a bathtub.

John Travolta was quoted in a recent article to say about his son ""He's my first, and he's my heart. And he's a very special boy," John Travolta said. "He's Daddy's boy."

John and his wife also have a younger 8 years old daughter. At this time the family are not speaking, they are said to be devastated. Their lawyer said that it is the worst day of their lives.

WorldFlavas.com and WorldFlavasRadio.com would like to send their condolences to the family. Losing a child is possibly the worse thing to ever happen to a parent. My heart goes out to them.

D.Dre son's death ruled

andre-j.jpgDr.Dre's oldest son died over the summer. His mother found him in his room dead the morning after he came back from an all night party.

The coroner ruled his death an accident and closed the case. He said that Andre Young JR died of morphine and heroin intoxication.

It is so sad and i doubt that these findings will give them peace, hopefully from this tragedy will come awareness, yes of course people know that doing drugs is bad, but maybe now someone like Dr.Dre, an entertainer that many teens look up to can send a message.

They might not listen to parents, but maybe they'll listen to someone they idolize.

I have seen a couple of pieces that looked very colorful, but I am a little confuse about this one piece. It reminds me of children "onesies" pyjamas. However if you subscribe to the theory of"'Fashion over style", then this is perfect for you!

Etanawebsite0000.jpg(Kingston, Jamaica)

Making good on her promise to have her very own online center, reggae recording artiste Etana yesterday launched her Official Websites and Blog, some thing the singer says was done to facilitate the needs of fans and to further stimulate promotions.

The website which has been under construction since October features a flashy home page display which is reminiscent of Etana's "The Strong One" album cover. Painted in a red and white background the user friendly display panel allows users to maneuver to other sections to include a Photo and Video Gallery. Probably the most noted addition is the complete album presentation which can be enjoyed track for track while reading the latest updates from her news forum.

The site also provides users with a Chat Room which allows fans from across the world to communicate and a Feedback section where greetings and kind words can be posted. Of-course the website also allows promoters / event organizers to initiate show bookings by completing a Information and Contact Form while still to come features on the website include an online store where fans can purchase Etana Merchandise and a Tour listing.

queen-latifah300.jpgQueen Latifah and her very special female friend went to Trinidad and Tobago for the Christmas Holiday.

They were staying at The Stone Haven Villas in Black Rock when they were robbed of $10,000 worth of jewelry.

A local newspaper in Tobago reports that a staff member of the resort is a suspect in the jewelry heist.

Latifah and her friend are still in Trinidad and Tobago hoping that the jewelry will be returned to them as it has very sentimental value to them.

Tourism Secretary, Neil Wilson, yesterday said the incident must be condemned in the strongest possible term. He added that citizens need to realise they are tarnishing the reputation of the country, and the island of Tobago.
