Remember Sean Paul's video "Watch Dem Roll", or "Love" by Keyshia Coles, Tyrese, 50 Cent, Ciara, Lil Wayne, Akon and many more artists, they were all directed by Benny Boom.
Inspired by one oh his mentor video directory turned movie director "Hype Williamd", Benny is now making movies.

"Next Day Air" is coming out May 8th, it stars Mike Epps, Mos Deff, Wood Harris and Donald Faison.

Movie synopsis: Life isn't going smoothly for Leo Jackson. He still lives at home, he just broke up with his girlfriend and he's had so many complaints about his sloppy work habits that his own mother is threatening to fire him. But Leo isn't one to let a few bad breaks ruins his day--as long as he's got plenty of weed to take his mind off his troubles. But when the whacked-out courier accidentally delivers a box containing 10 kilos of high quality cocaine to the wrong apartment, it sets in motion a hilarious and harrowing chain of events that could cost him his life

Even some of the filthy rich like to "pimp" their cars, and this Mercedes SLR McLaren was the victim.

If you ever saw the original Mercedes it looks amazing, but this McDonald red and gold transformation as broken my heart. Swiss firm Ueli Anliker Design "tricked" it out with 500 rubies and 24k gold accents.

Why oh why would they do that, it's like Michael Jackson after all the plastic surgery, of course that is only my opinion, and truth be told if I was given one as a gift, i'd be driving it day and night! More pics if you continue reading.

PRESS RELEASE:

Reggae on the Hill, took place at Farley Hill National Park, no doubts one of the largest Reggae festivals in Barbados, and by extension the Caribbean's Region. Dancehall and Reggae newest rising star - Konshens got a chance to wet his feet, by being booked for the largest day of the three day festival, alongside veteran acts such as Beenie Man, Buju Banton ,Morgan Heritage and Queen Ifrica to name a few.

Konshens  felt that the show was a great success for everyone, it begun in scheduled  and ended on scheduled, it  was also incident free, completely sold out, with crowds amounting to almost 30, 000 and more importantly all artistes who were booked showed up and performed great.

Konshens was highly anticipated as a result of his growing fan base formed by the success of his song "winner"  in Jamaica, realized, however that the Bajan  fans had another favourite "fair-weather friends", which is seemingly unknown in Jamaica. Unlike the rest of the world which has locked on to the winner track, the Bajan fans seem to be addicted to fair-weather friends as it was so well received, he didn't need to sing the song at all. The start of his set saw the fiery "rasta imposter" single which also quickly made the entire hill into a resounding choir.

He looks at the experience with much joy, as all his tracks were gobbled up by the receptive Bajan crowd with special connections in track like "don't waste the talent" and a special treat for the ladies, when he went into the crowd to handpick A Bajan empress with the track "looking for me".  He after completing the shooting of his new single " Young black & Powerful" on Wednesday, leaves to full is inner call on May 2nd in North America along with fellow artistes such as Laden and Dj Spice, Anticipates similar experiences .

HitmatikSoundSpeakerswtmk.jpgspeakersoundsytemwtmk.jpg(Pic of left speakers from HitMatik Sound)

Remember the days when sound systems had to carry speakers to the dance?
These days might soon be a thing of the past as a company based in Taiwan showed off their paper thin speakers.

"Flexpeaker" as they are called will be coming in all sizes, you'll be able to wall paper your house with this new technology.

Now for all sound men, can you imagine the man power you'll be able to cut off, nowadays with DJ's/Selectas playing from everything like ipods to laptops, heavy speakers will be a thing of the past, just get a couple of sheets in your bag and you're good to go, a sound sytem in the bag!

On Stage Beenie Man disses Chris Brown in Barbados

rihanbeenie.jpgBeenie Man needs to mind his business, is he really one to talk about people's personal relationship. How does the old saying goes? "People in glass houses should no throw stones"!

Last night in Barbados "Reggae On The Hill" took place, artists like Queen Ifrica and Buju Banton delighted the crowd with their hits! Barbados Princess Rihanna was in attendance where she has spend the last week relaxing with friends and family.

According to IslandIsta who attended the show, Beenie Man spend most of the evening sipping on some Henny and smoking some herbs, and please do not "Blame it on the a a a alcohol"! Beenie Man hit the stage at around 7:30pm and did what the King of dancehall does best when he apparently lost his mind and called Rihanna to report to the stage.

Beenie Man then started to hype the crowd by talking about the Chris Brown/Rihanna incident (why Beenie, why? How did you feel when they put you on blast for the Spice incident?), asking the crowd if they felt that it was "ah eediat ting", then proceeded to sing "Umbrella" (oooookkkkkk), Then he decided to add his own verse by singing "mi nuh have no fancy car, but mi neva give you no scar".

By IslandIsta's account  Rihanna was embarrassed and ashamed and by me even posting this story I can feel it for her, and as far as Beenie Man is concern, "couldn't you just had send her flowers"?

So Buju says that Bob Marley is not the greatest Jamaican musician, in an interview with the Jamaican newspaper the Observer Buju made this statement

"I want Jamaican music to be seen not through the pretext of some man that died 20 years ago, but as a pretext of a living being, working earnestly. If man cannot do what others have done in these times we might as well die," he told a mixed crowd at the launch of Rasta Got Soul, his new album, at the University of the West Indies on Thursday. "You know they say that the greatest musician in Jamaica is Bob Marley. I don't believe that, because we have greater musicians to come. Bob was the most promoted, and well promoted and we have to appreciate that because its our culture but don't kill our culture with one living one. Enough is Enough."

I am sure that he will receive harsh criticism and praises for his remarks, and even though I understand what he means, for myself I think that the world knows and loves Reggae because of Bob Marley. His lyrics, his peace approach, his melody, and for that alone I think that he is Jamaica's greatest musician.

Controversial "Ramping Shop" dancehall artist Vybz Kartel was denied a work permit for his anticipated Grenadian performance. The Ministry of Labor has refused to give an explanation but speculations on censorship and freedom of expressions are at the forefront.

The promoter is now out of thousands of dollars that he is looking into legal representation to recoup his loses. Vybz Kartel last performed to a sold out audience in Grenada back in 2008.

The promoter of the event apologized to the eager concert goers, he was unaware that the government would ban Kartel, as he has performed on the Island in the past.

Something about Diddy's swagger makes me overlook his cockiness and sometimes arrogant attitude. Diddy's in an entertainer and a business man who has his finger on the pulse of what's hot! Diddy's new album "The Last Train To Paris" his due out September of 2009.
The album will be a mix of "electro hip hop soul funk" (in his words). Diddy describes it as "Last Train to Paris is deeper than any of the other stuff I have ever made. It's a profound love story. It's me with my shades off. It's the truth," Diddy says. "I've been a businessman for the past two years. It's time for me to focus on being an artist again. I am going to show the world a new refreshing side of me. Get on or get off!"

I don't know if this is a song from his upcoming album, but I know that by Summer everyone in the clubs will be doing the "Diddy Bop". (this is only the audio)

In the past years it seems as if the man with the "Luther Vandross" voice had just disappeared but he has been working with Jimmy Jam and Terry lewis and the result will be a new album "Love Is" coming out May 19th.

Lol Derek said that for this he needed to tone down Kim's hottnest, good luck with that, in any case as she is my predicted winner for this season, Lil Kim and Derek did their thing and then some. If I didn't think that Derek batted for the other team I'd swear him and Kim were...you know...doing it!

PRESS RELEASE: Jamaica's very own award winning vocalist Etana is getting ready to take the stage of "Jordu Live" by storm this Saturday April 25th at the Jordu fashion boutique located in 7th Avenue Plaza. This will be the forth chapter of the Jordu Live series which saw the likes of Queen Ifrica, Tanya Stephens, Tessanne Chin and now the soulful empress Etana. Patrons will get the chance to see and hear Etana in a more intimate setting and will be able to see all the hottest styles in fashion that Jordu has to offer.

Etana says " This will be my first ever up close and personal acoustic performance, that will have a very mellow kind of vibe were i'll be giving a mix of all my past and present songs, I'm so looking forward to meeting my fans and giving them a mind bobbling show". Etana who recently returned from Barbados is busy promoting her latest singles "Blessings" featuring Alborosie and "Caltariba System", which are two of the hottest videos sweeping the airwaves both locally and internationally. Since her debut single "Wrong Address" Etana has followed up with influential and heart warming hits such as "Roots", "Warrior Love", "I Am Not Afraid"and "Don't Forget" amongst others. As Kingston's newest and hottest live entertainment spot Jordu Live provides a unique form of interaction.

According to IPC Entertainment director Mr. Douglas "Promoters should stop having one show with fifty artists because it doesn't allow the artist to really showcase the full extent of his or her talent. Jordu Live is the event that we all need as it brings out the performance through the audience, Etana is set to bring a wicked acoustic sound and like the others before it's a show you don't wanna miss. Although the production is fairly small its alot of work and so I must thank the Vice President of IPC Princess Ellis and the Jordu team for their dedication. Thanks also to past performers Queen Ifrica, Tanya Stephens, Laden, Big Ship,Tessanne Chin and all the fans who have made this event a success .

Limited pre-sold tickets for Jordu Live are currently on sale at the Jordu Store for $1200.

Broken penises in Jamaica

This story really makes me feel sad for all the women in Jamaica. What is going on with this report on increase broken penises?

KINGSTON - Representatives of some hospitals revealed that more men have been fracturing their penises in recent months than any other time in Jamaica.

Checks with urologists in some of the country's major hospitals have revealed that the "noticeable increase" in the number of cases where men fracture their members is largely attributed to the men's obsession with daggerin', aka rough sex.

While promising to send data regarding to the increase in the cases at a later date, one urologist from the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) said he had treated, on average, some two cases of penile fracture each month, counting from December 2008.

"We've noticed an increase," the doctor said.

"Almost every other week, since late last year, there is one case for this hospital."

My friends in France are so lucky, for those of you who really appreciate a good clash, I know you remember King Addies. If you lived in Brooklyn, New York back in the early 1990's, you know that they use to jam pack the Biltmore ballroom. (watch flashback video of King Addies vs Bodyguard).
King Addies performed in Paris yesterday along side of the French sound "Guiding Star" and "Junior Sound". From all accounts they gave a show to a full to capicity venue and "Bounty Killer" dubs ran the night.

As soon as I get some footage i will post it, in the meantime enjoy the flashback!

d-frog-princess.jpgWhen I first read the story I thought it had been a mistake, after all this is 2009, what did they mean by first black princess?

Surely there had been some before, so I started thinking back of all the Disney princesses, and none came to mind. Having watched Disney movies growing up, and watching them as an adult with my children, it never occurred to me that it was a disservice for little girls around the world.

After all I remember dreaming and wishing to be a princess when I grew up, how many girls have thought the same?

Welcome to 2009 where a black man is president of the United States Of America, and Disney finally introduces their first black princess "Tiana".

The Princess and the Frog," set for release in November will star Tiana as a beautiful black princess from New Orleans, In the movie, Tiana conveys this message: balance is important in life and women need both love and a career -- not just a prince -- to find happiness! I especially love the fact that "Tiana" is of a darker complexion, Hollywood needs to pay attention.

Of course Amy spokesperson denies this and says "Amy was talking about adopting in the context of looking after children on the island, perhaps through some kind of music and education-based project"

Last year someone turned me on to a singer from Barbados, no no, not princess Rihanna! Philip Scantlebury or Philip 7 as he is known in the world of music. Philip 7 is no overnight sensation, he has been singing for well over 10 years and started off as a member of the R&B group "Suave".

Philip descrives his music this way  "I started off singing an alternative flavour but I have more range to my music, having to try to appeal to everyone, so I play anything from R&B, hip hop, reggae, soul and jazz."

Here is his new single on the One Drop riddim by Stephen McGreggor  "Looking For" directed by the one and only Jay Will.

fantasia.jpgMost of us know the story of "American Idol Winner Fantasia Barrino".

She even had a movie made of her life on Lifetime movie Network. The movie was ok and her performance was, well hard to judge a performance of yourself.

She received great reviews for her performance on Broadway of The Color Purple, and now since everyone has a reality TV show, VH-1 has picked up a new reality TV show following the daily life of Fantasia.

PRESS RELEASE:

VH1 will partner with World Of Wonder Productions in a direct-to-series project starring Fantasia, the 9-time Grammy-nominated R&B singer and star of stage, television and Broadway.

VH1 will follow Fantasia along her life's journey -- a journey full of both ups and downs -- and will share how she deals with life and the seismic aftershocks of fame. The show will reveal Fantasia's "reality" -- her life as a blossoming recording artist and a young single mother who has achieved great success, but not without her share of hardship along the way. Nevertheless, Fantasia continues to persevere with the courage to live life with an openness and sincerity that her fans have come to love her for. The series is slated for an early 2010 premiere.

Hailing from High Point, North Carolina, Fantasia rose to fame as the winner of the third season of the television series American Idol in 2004. Since then, Fantasia's life has been nothing short of a whirlwind. Her young recording career has already earned her 9 Grammy nominations. She also told her story in her New York Times best-selling autobiography Life Is Not a Fairy Tale, which led to the production of a film by Lifetime Television film by the same name in which she played herself. In 2007, Fantasia played the role of Celie in the Broadway adaptation of The Color Purple to rave reviews. Presently, Fantasia is back in the studio working on her third album preparing to wow the world with the gift that first brought introduced her to the world stage- her voice.

"Fantasia has one of the most fascinating stories in show business, from her tough upbringing to her meteoric rise on the national scene thanks to American Idol. Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world," said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President, Original Programming & Production, VH1. "So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we're so happy to have her."

"Fantasia's life has been an open book. But at 24 years old, her story has just begun," said Executive Producer, Randy Barbato. "We look forward to smashing expectations and revealing the fresh, funny and unexpected side of this one-of-a-kind country girl/superstar."

The series is executive produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Tom Campbell for World of Wonder. Executive producers for VH1 are Jill Holmes, Kristen Kelly and Jeff Olde.

PRESS RELEASE:
Born in Ethiopia International Reggae Artist Sheba Sahlemariam has found her breakout single in "Love This Lifetime".

The song which was in heavy rotation on several U.K based radio stations including 93.6FM London, Fire 107FM, Vibes 90.6FM and XM101 Satellite Radio has now made its way to Jamaica and is already getting a buzz mainly because of the promotional remix which was recently released by Sonic Dynasty Management Company of Sheba.

The remix which features local superstar deejay Bounty Killer can best be described as a unique fusion of reggae soul and dancehall somewhat reminiscent of Bounty's project with pop singer No-Doubt during the late 1990's.

dellyalbum.jpgMy first crush on Delly Ranx is when I heard him say "Walk with the dip inna your little mini skirt girl cause you fit the script gal" in the collaboration song "Party Time" with Voicemail.

Over the years I had the chance to interview Delly Ranx and I always am amazed on how this talented, multi hit artist remains so humble. Delly Ranx is an international artist, producer and singer.

Just in time for the summer parties, festivals and concert Delly Ranx much anticipated album "Good Profile" will be released on Itation Records. The album features the hit singles such as "Wish Good", "Sensi Ride" and "I'm Going Crazy" featuring Chico.

Going through my daily rounds of youtube, I stumbled upon these dancers in Jamaica. "Checkers Dancers", it was my first time seeing or hearing of them, it said in the description that their motto is "Poor and Boasty". I have a special spot in my heart for dancers, maybe in a previous life I was one of them, all I know is I could watch good dancers for hours and I believe that there is no dancehall without dancers.

Sean Combs a.k.a Diddy is takinghis acting very seriously, have you seen him perform in "A Raisin In The Sun"? Say what you want but he acted his a$$ off.
His latest endeavor will be in a movie co starring Russell Brand, Jonah Hill, Elisabeth Moss and Rose Byrne. The movie "Get Him To The Greek" is about an intern at a record company in charged of an egotistical out of control rock star from England.

The premise of the movie is that the intern must take the Rock Star from London to Los Angeles in order to perform at the "Greek" theater. Diddy a.k.a Sean Combs will feel right at home as he will be portraying a record label boss that hires Jonah Hill's character to perform the seemingly impossible task, which introduces him to world of sex, drugs and Rock & Roll.

As soon as the trailer becomes available I will post it, in the meantime, for those of you who have not seen his performance in "Raisin In The Sun", here is the official trailer, do yourself a favor this movie is a classic, go and watch it!

Sizzla says he will perform in Canada...eventually

According to Sizzla and his management, there was never an agreement to sign in order for him to perform in Canada. According to the news, Sizzla had to cancel his concert slated for last Monday in Toronto because he was refused a visa by the Canadian Consulate in Kingston after refusing to sign a document stating that he would not sing any gay bashing lyrics.
The official denial for the visa is a late entry of paperwork to the Consulate by Sizzla's team. Sizzla has issued an apology to his fans who were eagerly waiting for the "FireMan".

The statement says "There was no involvement of any form of contract or agreement to determine the acquisition of the visa in Kingston. At this point in Sizzla's career, he is moving forward with total positivity, unity, and urges all to stop the violence. Under the circumstance, we ensure that Canadian fans will get to see Sizzla perform in the near future."

To ease some of the pain here is a clip of Sizzla in Amsterdam performing "Nah Apologize"

I am an avid animal lover and I truly believe that a dog can bring a lot of love and laughter to a family.

I think that Bo is adorable and I wouldn't be mad if someone send me an adorable puppy like him.

Blakk Rasta aoplogizes

Blakk Rasta is a Reggae artist and radio DJ in Accra, Ghana. His song "Barack Obama" became a hit and he was subsequently nominated for a GMA (Ghana Music Award) but the hit  song was dropped from one of the categories soon after the nominations were announced. Speculations are that the song was too political and might offend the powers that be.

Blakk Rasta took his grievance with the GMA's to the airwaves on his radio show at Hitz FM "Taxi Driver" and blasted them for disqualifying the song. Soon after Blakk Rasta offered an apology that is perceived as not remorseful but rather said to please the radio station/his employers, he apologized for using Hitz FM to express his anger.

According to sources "the "Barak Obama" hit song was not meant for Ghana's political environment and as such that song can not be the popular song of the year 2008, when compared to songs such as Philipa Barfi's song "Go Go High" and Praye's "Angelina".
