Skerrit Bwoy in action and Carlene talks

There has been a lot of talk about dancehall casualties. A recent video clip made its way through the internet with a female dancer losing consciousness after a stunt went wrong and even TRUTV showing a "passa passa" event where a table was thrown at a female dancer.

I will be honest and say that I enjoy watching dancers perform at parties, I think that they are a vital part of dancehall and bring fun and excitement. But, are they dancers or stunt performers?

I guess being from the old school and remembering a time when "Carlene" graced the stages of shows and parties, a time when men and women danced together, I see nowadays most dancers as performers. Don't get me wrong, there are still many great dance crews, and dancers that we at WorldFlavas highlight almost on a weekly basis. I am simply opening the floor for an exchange of ideas.

Here are 2 clips, Skerrit Bwoy doing what he does in the words of FallBackVideo and Carlene the original dancehall queen!

Whether you like it or not technology now plays a huge part of album selling. Can we still call it an album? iTunes has become the new billboard of music selling charts. An artist can nowadays be unsigned and have music on charts. It has both become a blessing and a curse as most music is now digitally downloaded, thus closing down many music stores. When is the last time you bought a cd?

Julian Marley holds the number 2 spot on the iTunes US reggae album charts, but that's ok because his father, the late great Bob Marley still holds number 1!! 5 singles from his album are in the top 10 on the iTunes charts even beating his brother Ziggy who still holds strong at number 4.

Wow does the whole Marley clan monopolizes the charts? Here is his hit "Boom Draw"

Produced and arranged by legendary "Dean Frazer", the album will have a host of collaboration with artists like Konshens, Etana, Vybz Kartel and Duane Stephenson.

If the album is anything like his duo "Good Girl Gone Bad" with Konshens, Tarrus Riley is sure to have another hit on his hands.

problemwtmk.jpgThat's it! I am finally going to speak my mind on these freakin chicks that have no morals what so ever. yes, yes, yes I know the men are to blame too, but right now my issue is with women.

Let's say that men don't care about diseases or kids, shouldn't you care about yourself? In this letter you have the nerve to say and I quote "My daughter deserves to know her father". Are you freakin kidding me? If that was the case, wouldn't you have at least asked his name if you didn't use protection in case of, uh, diseases, pregnancy?

We all know and watch (even if it is once) the Maury Povich show, women come on and proclaim to know who the "baby daddy Is" and taking DNA tests, just to be humiliated when the results (most of the time) come up that "he is NOT the baby daddy".

I'm not even mad at Maury, after all yes he might be exploiting their story, but to be fair they agreed to be exploited, and some of them time after time.

Who holds a responsibility? As much as I am a liberal, and all for equal rights, ladies let me say this. The same way that we want to have the right to do what we want with our bodies (i.e abortions), the same way that we need to be responsible for our own bodies. Unless you are raped (and I wish the rapist to suffer the worse pain in life short of dying), there is no excuse for you not to protect yourself, ESPECIALLY in a one night stand! I am not judging you, one night or 10 it's none of my business, as a matter of fact protect yourself or not, well that's my business.

Why you say? It takes a village to raise a child. (and I might be the one volunteering to take care of you when you are dying of aids).

Born of the name Darrio Johnson born in the small district of Deeside, Trelawney, Darrio Dane'Jah was exposed to music by his mother, a singer  whom due to lack of funds  had to place her music aside and moved to Kingston in search of  employment opportunities.

Living in Kingston Darrio made several musical links to players in the industry, and as such, he was able to light, the torch and pick up where his mother left. Dario's real motivation begun while he was still in high school, where he showcased, his talent school concerts. The experience he gathered pushed him to pursue a full time career in music. The first major highlight of his career came in 2005 when he entered in the Guinness undisputed competition where he advanced to the second round, which aired, on CVM TV. The completion proved to be a successful avenue as he was placed second overall, earning him a place on Guinness sting 2005.

Demarco & Etana Record New Single "Can I"

Demarco & Etana.jpgWith one dominating the local reggae scene as a female artist and the other racking up production and song writing credits while still maintaining a solid presence in dancehall its no wonder why the soulful empress Etana and the creatively talented deejay Demarco have release a brand new collaboration.

The song entitled "Can I" was recorded earlier this month after the two who are both members of the Solid Agency camp began sharing a mutual interest in working on a project. The song which can be described as an up beat crossover jam finds the strong one stepping outside of her element of roots reggae and into a pop type melody and flow. Similarly Demarco also sheds the hardcore dancehall persona for a smooth r&b flow fused with some sizzling relationship lyrics.

Outside of their current single both artists have been busy in recent times. Demarco is said to be working on a single with international rapper The Game and is set to take on the summer season with a slew of songs not to mention a video for his smash hit "I Need A Roof". Etana on the other hand has been in and out of the island performing just last week at the South Beach Music Festival in Aruba alongside Jamie Foxx, Estelle and Common. She will also be commencing her one month tour of the U.S soon but not before doing a show in Amsterdam, Netherlands later this week. Etana is currently endorsing other her other singles which includes "Happy Hearts" and "Woman's Voice" which was produced by Stephen McGregor.

tinytoya.jpg

I will admit that I am addicted to reality TV show, the worse is usually the best, in terems of watching a train wreck, you just can't help it!

So while T.I is away it is now time for his "wifey Tiny" to shine. For those of you who don't know, Tiny was once a celebrity (well celebrity might be exagerating), she was one fourth of a all female singing group "Escape". The had some good songs, especially nice and slow.

Her biggest claim to fame though is T.I, and yes it might sound harsh, but she would be on VH-1 "Where are they now" if it wasn't for Clifford.

Along with Lil' Wayne "A Milli" ex wife and baby mama Toya, BET has issued this Press Release:
TINY AND TOYA is BET's provocative, new half-hour docu-drama chronicling the lives of Tameka "Tiny" Cottle and Antonia "Toya" Carter - two dynamic, young women immersed in the craziness of the hip-hop world, but striving to find inner-strength, peace and purpose. On the surface, their real-life story plays out like an urban fairytale - both women falling in love with two of hip hop's most successful princes (T.I. and Lil' Wayne) and living the life of the rich and famous.

Catch the preview special, Monday, June 15 at 10 PM/9C.
Then, watch the sneak peek Sunday, June 28 immediately following the BET Awards.

Set in the heart of Atlanta, against the backdrop of the multi-billion dollar music industry,TINY AND TOYA follows the journey of two best friends overcoming their struggles to discover who they really are, from the inside out. They are tired of being defined by others (in the shadow of their high-profile men) and are determined to rely on each other and the strength from within to find their purpose and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

tyty.jpgReports are coming in from all news sources in regards to Mike Tyson 4 years old daughter "Exodus". Here is what the AP (Associated Press):

PHOENIX - The near-fatal strangulation of boxer Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter appears to be a "tragic accident," police say.

Exodus Tyson was on life support Tuesday after apparently accidentally hanging herself on a cord dangling from a treadmill in her modest central Phoenix home.

"Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there's a cord that hangs under the console - it's kind of a loop," police Sgt. Andy Hill said. "Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it."

Exodus' 7-year-old brother found her Monday and told their mother, who was in another room. She took Exodus off the cord, called 911 and tried to revive her.

kon.jpgWhile on the set, of his latest video 'She's Happy" ft. Delus, Saturday morning, Konshens while performing a very physical stunt, (which included him being accosted by a police officer, played by his brother-Delus). However while the scene was being shot, Konshens was accidently slammed into the front glass of Avery's Beauty Concept at Bujon Plaza, Molynes Rd, causing the glass o shatter.

Luckily he failed to receive any major injuries to his face, however due to the direct frontal impact; several small pieces of small glass had entered the cavity of his eyes. This resulted in a postponement of several scenes in the video, and cancelation of his scheduled performance in Montego Bay for Saturday Night. The decision came after a family doctor recommended he remained in Kingston, for observation, if irritation to the eyes continues into Sunday.

Konshens wishes to apologies, and inform his fans, that he is recovering well, and that he is in fact in dismay, as he was eagerly looking forward to see them, and as such at the earliest time possible, he will aim to make an appearance in Montego Bay.

PRACTICE SPACE HOST CHRISSY BARNES ON FORGING A NEW LANGUAGE OF SHARED INTERESTS WITH ELEPHANT MAN
I wish I had brushed up on my patois prior to spending the afternoon with Elephant Man. The first thing he said to me when I walked into Bad Boy Studios was "Rispeck [incomprehensible] gal [incomprehensible] scooby thin thin" I think. Aside from the confusion brought on by the unanticipated language barrier, this was one of the best times I have had hanging around in someone's rehearsal space. We spent about a good hour or so just hanging around eating wings and drinking Hennessy and Pepsi before Elephant Man went through every song on his new album. He just turned the volume to 10 and started singing (rapping? performing?) every single song, one after another after another. Often, Ele is referred to as "The Energy God", and now I know why. He was getting so into it that his hair dye was dripping everywhere. He was sweating rainbows, and by the end of the session his shirt collar looked like it had been tie-dyed. He also kept yelling "KABOOM" over and over throughout his medley, and when I asked him what it meant, he very calmly replied, "I compare it to a woman that you have bad vibes with. You could point your gun and say bambambam, I say KABOOM." Ahhh. watch part 2 click VBSTV

I thought, an alter ego, but in his own words, Assassin says that "It may be similar but not entirely an alter ego 'cause that is usually outside your normal character.

This has always been a part of my work I'm just fine-tuning it now". "Agent Sasco is a mission and a movement that is giving people music that they can relate to, give them thought, create more social awareness and encourage people to think more".

I was home one day when I received a call from "Doc" from 116th Studio, he told me that he heard this new artist out of Jamaica freestyling and that he was great! "Doc" is the owner of 116th Studio and mostly deals with Hip Hop, so for him to really like this young man I figured I would give it a listen.
Forget the audio, the young man was live in the studio and he is madddddddddddddddddd. I don't want to tell you all too much about him yet as I will interview him and feature him on WorldFlavas, but as a teaser here is "Juvy Tight".

The first time I heard this song I thought that Michael Jackson had a new single out, I freakin love it! The Dream's voice is so smooth. This is my summer jam!!!
I first became aware of "The Dream" with Rihanna's "Umbrella-ella-ella", and from there I noticed that just about every hot song was from producer "The Dream", but who knew he could sing like this? Well, yes "Falsetto" was a good hint.

L.A Reid premiered the video last night at an event for Rihanna, so here is some footage from someone who either used their camera phone, or their video camera sucks, either way I am happy that they got it. No words on the official release.

BrooklynMusicFestival.jpgNew York, NY (Ms. RAINE INC.) - Take the heavy drum and bass sound of Caribbean music, add a dash of Soul, a pinch of Pop, a spoonful of Jazz, a splash of Hip Hop, a bit of Jewish culture, and some Asian drumming, and you have the kind of uniquely funky musical stew that can only be found in heart of New York City's multi-ethnic melting-pot. The Brooklyn Music Festival, slated for Floyd Bennett Field on June 21st, celebrates Caribbean-American Heritage Month with an eclectic line-up of Caribbean and Caribbean-inspired artists for a tasty musical soufflé that is bound to delight the taste buds of Brooklyn's multi-cultural communities.

Officially recognized by the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the President in 2006, the month of June marks a 30-day celebration of the cultural impact and influence of Caribbean immigrants and Caribbean-Americans in United States. Famed Caribbean music promoter George Crooks has initiated the annual Brooklyn Music Festival as a day-long cultural celebration featuring the best of Caribbean music, food, arts and crafts, and entertainment for Brooklyn and New York City residents.

With Reggae-fusion acts like Asian band Brown Rice Family, the 'original Jew-maican' BennyBwoy, acclaimed actor Leon and his Reggae-Soul band The Peoples, 'Skragga' musicians The Rudie Crew, Ska musician King Django, and the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Crooks has taken the Brooklyn Music Festival beyond the typical Reggae/Dancehall staging to present local artists heavily inspired by New York's vibrant Caribbean community.

Ricardowtmk.jpgWith every generation comes an extraordinary talent ready to sharp the future, their voices often time command your attention while their spirit warms your soul. One such voice that has been resonating on the local circuit is that of Sheldon Williams more popularly known as Ricardo Suave.
Born on January 5, 1975 Suave has been in the music fraternity for over a decade yet his commitment is still as solid now as is was back in 1991 when as a teenager he entered Jamaica's Inter-Schools Festival Competition where he won a Silver Award for his rendition of the Larry Graham mega' hit' "One In A Million You".

Suave was always a fan of music, growing up he would listen and sometimes do renditions of songs from local pioneers like Sanchez who he credits as one of his early influences. His charisma was often times what keep him progressing as he would make the best opportunity of every situation and that coupled with hard work and dedication led Suave to the forefront of the industry.

In 1995 Suave got his big break when he was featured on the Starlight segment of the greatest one night reggae show on earth STING. From there Suave continued on his musical journey and in 1996 he entered the Red Label Wine Super Star Song Competition where he placed second with an original composition entitled "Embrace Me".

Honestly though, I am so over Busta Rhymes, I do credit him for some of his music but other than that I think he needs to come back down to earth.

If you don't feel like listening to the whole thing and I don't blame you, forward to 2:06 for his "Big Up" to Jamaica!

2 sides to a story - Nikki Z answers back

NIKKIZ.jpgWorldFlavas.com was contacted by the Diva NikkiZ after she learned that an article was posted on a website in regards to an alleged altercation between herself and Sami of 360 Ladies this past Saturday May 16th in Queens , New York at a Serani show.

Here is the Diva NikkiZ response:

This is in response to the Malicious and Fictitious article written on a Dancehall/Reggae website in regards to an incident that took place on May 16th 2009. I currently am the Entertainment Director at Clipper's II and trendy new Hot Spot in Queens and was giving the Hosting Duties for a Show Entitled "It's It's It's Serani" The show was scheduled to begin 1am but due to the late entry of the crowd was running extremely late. From about 1:30 till a little past 3am I was Hosting on the mic while Hell Razor was selecting. At this time a young lady who I now understand is named Sami came on the stage and proceeded to start to play music, after stating something to Hell Razor he then cam e and took the Microphone that was in my hand and began to MC while she in turn selected.
This was not a problem... After 5-10 minutes proceeded I was approached by people affiliated with show and that the artist was ready and to call up an artist Name Rushaun who was to perform before Serani. I asked if the artist was sure he was ready and if the music was lined up and they responded with yes "They are Ready now" as the shows host it is my duty to comply with what I am being told in regards to the show program. So at that time I had a second mic that Yard Vibes Sound provided to me and began to start the show. At this point no words were exchanged between I and Sami but after I started the program Sami then attempted to snatch the mic very aggressively out of my hand. Out of shock my first reaction was to push her off of my hand and she then fell back. Security among others then intervened and escorted her off of the stage very abruptly.
The show began without another interruption, Sami even entered back on stage to retrieve her things and once again we passed each other but without a word exchange or problem. The article stated security prevented her from coming back... but yet she did!... The article stated I took away "Her" mic.... she  never had a mic Hell Razor did! The article quoted that I told security to let her go... I am the Entertainment Director at this new hot spot, if I wanted that to happen it would have.  I am constantly villianized no matter what the situation is and most times I remain silent and except the hand that is being dealt to me but this time I refuse. If as a DJ you feel your time is cut short then talk to me as a person much less a woman, what you won't do is put your hands on me as if you feel I am someone to push
over. If you want proper play time sorted out show up for the event on time! Clubs have to close at 4am in Queens.
How can you expect to get full play time if you start after 3am the people paid to see Serani it was his name on the flyer and he the patrons paid for. You were not on the flyer or advertisement so as a bonus play early... play Prime time even 2am 2:30 but to expect to get full time during showtime is ludicrous and unreasonable. Right now I represent my family I represent Irie Jam 93.5 I represent Busy Radio in CT I represent Road Block Radio and I represent Caribbean Hot 30 (Which air on 16 radio Stations in the Caribbean) What I don't represent is childishness, foolishness, hype and friggery! This was an attempt in my opinion by someone who felt they had something to prove verses someone who came to cater to patrons.
But all they proved is that the DIVA SHALL NOT BE MOVED!!!
I have arrived NYC and I am not going no where!!!

This picture to me shows all kinds of wrong, that poor dog looks scared to death, but according to it's inventor Romain Jarry, this dog washing machine has been so much of a success in France that he will be expanding to the U.K next year, and then to the world and beyond!

The machine only takes a few minutes to wash the dog, then, yes there is a then, the dog sits to dry in the "Dog Drying Machine". I just can't comment anymore, I will leave it up to you all.

According to his myspace bio, Lion Melta was born in the Parish of St-Thomas, Jamaica in the West Indies. As a youth growing up hip-hop was his thing. His rap style brought fiyah to the halls of Seaforth School. From that point on the Mission was to bring the heat to the U.S.A. In the winter of '95 he touched the grounds of Queens, New York. "Lion Melta the girl dem Shelta" had arrived. He wasted no time by winning talent contests like in 96 from the very popular radio program "Kings & Queens" on WNWK.

As a songwriter Lion Melta continues to build a solid variety of lyrics ranging from hardcore dancehall to culture & conscience messages. With similar style to that of Capelton & Sizzla, Lion Melta has dominated the underground industry. Ready for the mainstream the artist of choice for showcases and major concerts is Lion Melta . This phenomenal DJ is ready to melt the hearts of many. He infuses the masses with positive lyrics. The Rasta Vibration is awesome; I know you can feel it. "Lion Melta the Girl dem Shelta" fi real.

On a personal note I have had the pleasure to meet and interview this very humble and talented singer. I am always surprised at the demeanor of someone who exudes so much talent. I think to myself that their ego must be so inflated as they have an amazing gift, but more often than not, and in the case with Lion Melta, it was a pleasure speaking with him

Here is his single "Borderline" produced by Andre Lloyd of Beatz Galore Productions. For more on this amazing production company click here.

I have been featuring shoes that range from $500 to $5,000.

Listen sometimes for fashion you need to make a sacrifice "rent or shoes".

Before you sent me e-mails this is just a joke of course it's shoes (wink).
Here are some silver wedges from Dollhouse and yes I ordered them myself, and no I didn't have to forgo the roof over my head.

The fans that will be attending the show will be twice as lucky, as for the first time in France (or the world) with proof of purchase, concert goers will be treated to another Bitty McLean peformance LIVE from Japan. How is that?

rollsroycelv.jpgI know that this sounds bad on my part, but I always had in my head an image of people who "pimp out their ride", yes it is bad to stereotype!

This tragedy belongs to prince Marcus Von Anhalt, why did he mess with perfection (reminds me of Michael Jackson after surgery)? This Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe was wrapped in colorful Louis Vuitton pattern. Prince Marcus Anhalt has too much money and too much time on his hands.

This beauty is part of his 26 exotic car collection. Oh by the way, the prince owns 20 brothels and nightclubs in Germany!

INTRODUCING ANGELA LATTI

AngelaLatti1promowtmk.jpgBorn in Long Island, NY to Jamaican parents up and coming singing sensation Angela Latti is no stranger to life on the rock. When she was only six years old, she migrated with her grandparents to Jamaica for their retirement only to return home to New York to live with her mother at age 14. "My mom was a single parent and she would constantly inform me of how smart, capable and beautiful I was.

I believed her so I did well in school and had my fair share of suitors!" Determined to go all the way Angela was off to college shortly after becoming a New York native and at the age of 26 she had a BS in Chemistry and a MS in computer science but it wasn't until after the degrees that this diamond in the ruff decided to shine as an entrepreneur and recording artist.

Angela was adamant her purpose in life was to make others feel happy, confident and empowered, so she muscled up the courage to make the first step and what a first step it was. It all started when she sought the training of a vocal coach to guide her soulful voice but this was a mere stepping stone, the true test came in her recording not one but eleven wonderfully expressive songs which would later be used as her introduction into the world of music. In Angela's self-titled album released in May an array of social commentary can be heard over vintage style one drop rhythms, from her opener "Princess & Queens" to the thought provoking "Middle Class Poverty" Latti spare no words in addressing systematic issues. This theme continues in the song, "Persevere" where Latti reminds, "what you put in is what you get out". Along with the reality check comes some saucy lovers rock cuts like her up-tempo hit "Prescription".

Far from self conscious Angela's down to earth persona makes her an inviting individual. "Simply put I define myself by how I make others feel. I live my life to empower women through music and inform everyone that they can do anything they put their mind to". Currently residing in the state of California Angela has set her sights on the international market with the intention of getting some well-needed exposure. Operating under her label Yemalla Records Latti was recently in Jamaica on a promotional campaign and is expected to return in early June. A promising vocalist and exceptional songwriter Angela Latti will no doubt impact the masses with some positive vibration.

I can't even start to explain what that song does to me, It is in my top ten of all time. I remember telling an ex (when I was a young girl) that it was my favorite, and one day when we were out to dinner he surprised me by having the band play it, and we danced alone in the middle of the restaurant, it was soooo romantic!
This is a classic, "Night Nurse" by the legendary Gregory Isaac, the New York Times once referred to him as "The most exquisite vocalist in Reggae".

Flawless, Demarco & Iyara Rock GAL-A-TUESDAY

Flawlessdemarcoiyara1.jpgKnown as one of the hottest mid week events on the dancehall scene, GAL-A-TUESDAY last week welcomed a host of young artists to its venue. The event which is promoted by popular in the streets figure Galdiez is known for pulling big name deejays like Bounty Killer and Mavado but on tuesday turned the spotlight on some new talent as the PayDay Music protege Flawless, the Alliance most promising youngster Iyara, Magnum King & Queens winner Poor & Boasy and the fast rising melody maker from Starkutt Records Demarco all held their own during the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Up first was the freshly crowned millionaire deejay Poor & Boasy who blazed a short but spicy fire for his fans and well wisher. Once disregarded by society for being a street youth with a window whipper Poor & Boasy is now an inspiration to many of Jamaica's forgotten youngsters. Next to rock the mic was the lyrical sniper Flawless who represent to the fullest, performing songs like hit single "Burn Pagan" which earn a number of forwards from the crowd. Iyara then made an appears up front and delivered in his signature Alliance style.

The budding talent who is current enjoying favorable rotation on radio had patrons raving to his every utterance while the Standing Soldier Demarco was last to perform and with a slew of street hits gave the people just enough to carry them into another fun filled segment of daggering, dancing and raving. With the new year only in its fifth month alot is expected from of these artists who are now faced with the task of maintaing a presence in the dancehall mainstream arena.

ri6.jpgIf you are a regular at Malaika Flavas on Ustream Monday to Friday at 8pm you know I love a good piece of gossip, but here on worldflavas I try to stay away from certain things, but at times these entertainers really push me!
A couple of days ago the internet world was a buzz from Cassie's nude pics, according to Cassie someone hacked into her laptop and release her naked pics on the net (mmmm, odd how you have a single out and badly need some press), anywho, I stayed away from the pics on worldflavas.

But this here was too hot for me to ignore, after all I am only human! Barbadian princess Rihanna allegedly (i use that word because of legal reason, she has not own up to it even though it's her in the pics) posed for some candid pics while hanging out with her bonafide at the time, the infamous "Chris Brown". How, when and why they are all over the net? Your guess is as good as mine but just in case you want to see what your girl Riri looks like in her birthday suit (yes as much as i hate to admit it she looks good, no wonder Chris...never mind)

The tour starts in Nevada on July 10th and will tour the whole North America, that's right even Canada and will close in Boston on August 8th.

Except that Stephen Marley will not be at the Vancouver date.

I would love to be a fly on the wall of the tour bus!

Legendary and original king of dancehall Shabba Ranks will open for Buju Banton this weekend in New York at Madison Square Garden.
On Sunday, May 9th 2009 at 8pm the doors will open to bring New Yorkers this pre mother's day concert organized by radio personality Dahved Levy of WBLS 107.5FM.
To top it all,  as if Shabba and Buju (who will be backed up by reggae band Shiloh) were not more than enough, a younger dancehall star will be in attendance, Mr "dutty whine" himself Tony Matterhorn will warm up the crowd.

Just in case you forgot who the original king of dancehall is, here is a flashback of Shabba Ranks in 1991 at Champion In Actions.

Ed and Tanyawtmk.JPGI have a secret to share with you, if you are in New York on any given Tuesday you are very lucky. That's right, you get to see live entertainement from big names for F R E E, you don't believe me?
Make your way around 8PM to Clipper's Lounge located at 234-36 Merrick blvd in Queens, NY and you will get to see names like Shane- O, Tanya Mullings, T.O.K and many more...

Yesterday was my first time attending this event, I originally went to show support for IRAWMA winner Tanya Mullings, this was her last stop on her way back to Canada. Fresh from her win, Tanya delighted the crowd with her amazing voice, and surprised all of us even more when she perfomed a duet with Ed Robinson.

The event was hosted by "SpreadLove Bobby" and "DubbMaster Chris" of Irie Jam Radio 93.5FM in NY, the atmosphere was great and the vibes non stop and for that alone WorldFlavas.com will be back, of course the fact that it's F R E E is a bonus, so if you are looking for something to do, somewhere to go, CLIPPERS LOUNGE & IRIE JAM RADIO LOUNGE is the place to be.

Our M.C for the evening was none other than Tony Rebel himself, he started the evening late but made up for it by not only being witty and funny, but by entertaining us with banter with his artists friends. He was the perfect choice and host for the evening.

The first performance of the evening was from Brigadeer Jerry backed up by the band of choice for the evening "Dean Frazer and his all stars". It was a good performance and set the trend for the rest of the night.

Duane Stephenson followed, I liked the performance and the song, Duane has a lot of charisma but it didn't leave me asking for an encore.

Sexy in her mini green dress, "And soooooooooo" D'Angel was next on the stage. "Stronger" was the song of her choice, and she sang it with all her heart and soul, after all both Beenie Man and BarBee were within her eye sight and every time she sang the lyrics "But am sure I never diss my king of kings" there was no doubt who she was pointing and looking.

i9.jpg
I don't know if it was just coincidence or organized but Barbee was the next in line, sassy and sexy wearing a hot pink and diamond dress, showing off her "Beyonce legs", Barbee belted out "Love you anyways", well after all the gossip surrounding her and Beenie, I am not sure if that song was dedicated to him, but Barbee delivered a good performance, she hit the high notes and moved her hips to the delight of all men in the crowd.

Last year was my first time having the pleasure of listening to Mutabaruka live, that man has a way with words, he delivers and gives me inspiration. he makes you think and leaves you wanting to hear more. As he made his barefoot way across the stage, Mutabaruka pondered on the swine flu, joked about having the last laugh at the airport when everyone is asked to take off their shoes, and touched on politics but with such wisdom that it seemed like poetry. He is one of the greatest spoken words/poet of our generation.

Dancehall Diva Danielle more popularly known as D.I hosted a private party last saturday in celebration of yet another earth strong and what a get together it was with a number of friends and family in attendance at her Liguanea residences.

Dressed in a sexy pink outfit the birthday girl entertained her guest with gourmet catering mixed with an array of fine wine and liquor. Outside of the shrimp, fish and lamb filled plates was also slices of lichee and plain cake which sat well with the gathering.

The Gaza Princess Lisa Hype, Sting Promoter Junior "Heavy D" Fraser, former Dancehall Queen Carline, Marketing Executive Zachary Harding, Stainless Records C.E.O DJ Karim and the milky one Amelia "Milk" Sewell were all in attendance showing their support for D.I on her special day.

D.I. who is know for her hit singles " Beat It - Beat It", "Brown Girl In The Ring alongside the Doctor Beenie Man" and "Downtown Man" featured on the gansta rock riddim is in the process of releasing her latest single "Bright Light" which gives a softer, more mature sound to the sometimes raunchy lyricist. "As each year goes by I become more grounded and mature both as a person and an artist and with this new single I'm re-introducing myself to the public as a more conscious performer but still staying true to my dancehall roots" said D.I.

Tami Chynn makes a cameo appearance in the video and just like their previous video meeting "Arguing and Why" the chemistry on set between them is simply natural. The story line has a great plot with a crazy twist at the end.

Tami and Wayne also have a brand new collaboration called "Nothing Else" that is being tipped to be a reggae smash hit. Good Love was produced by famed producer Baby G.

Technology really has come a long way, back in the days men and women declared their loves via love letters, then came the telephone, and now thanks to the world wide web, lovers can have an instant connection from all ends of the earth.
Here is my girl Lil Kim new video "Download", I am trying really hard not to be bias as I am an admitted Lil Kim fan, but I love the song, love the video and even with all the criticism of her plastic surgery, I think she looks great!

"As each year goes by I become more grounded and mature both as a person and an artist and with this new single I'm re-introducing myself to the public as a more conscious performer but still staying true to my dancehall roots"

sojah.jpgFor those of you who don't know SOJAH you are missing out on the best of dancehall, reggae, hip hop and pop all blended to satisfy all musical taste.

You might recognize them individually as Delus and Konshens, the duo have found fame in solo recording songs like "Gangwar - Delus" and "Number 1 Winner - Konshens", but together Delus and Konshens make the powerful band SOJAH. Their debut "Son of Jah" was first released in Japan but soon found fame around the world.

As if having solo careers was not enough, a band together and working on new albums, SOJAH are taking their future in their own hands, SOJAH directed their music videos, as well as the upcoming video for Konshens new track "Young, Black and Powerful" sang and directed by Konshens under the production of "Young Veterans Productions".

I have more to come on SOJAH, Konshens and Delus but just to tease you here is "Me Madda" video performed and directed by SOJAH, and behind the scenes pictures of Konshens upcoming video for "Young Black And Powerful", all pictures are courtesy of Pen 2 Paper Creative Concept.
